Training

Now it's all about deciding on the essential elements of the allowed 80lbs I take with me to Morocco!

I leave this Friday for Philadelphia, for "staging". Then we're off to in-country Pre-Service Training (PST) for the following 11 weeks.

We fly into Casablanca on Monday Sept 8 and bus to Rabat (capital of Morocco, about 1 1/2 hrs from Casablanca) where we stay for 3 days. We'll receive an introduction to PC Morocco, culture, health and safety and get our vaccinations (MMR, Hep A and B, Polio, Typhoid, Rabies and Meningitis-pincushion city!).

On the Sept 12th we leave for our technical training sites in Azrou (about 2 1/2 hrs east of Rabat). Azrou will serve as a regional base for the remainder of the training. We will then be assigned to a Community Based Training team of 5-6 trainees in a small village in the region and will be living with host families. This is for more experiential training, with strong focus on language learning, along with cross cultural training and planning community based activities related to Small Business Development of women artisans.

We will be arriving in Morocco at the beginning of Ramadan-a particularly interesting time to be able to join a host family and experience it (what I can comprehend) first-hand.

While in training, I'll have internet access, and possibly a cell phone-will let you know via blog if that's the case.

You have spoken about this type of giving back for so many years; it seems impossible that the time has come. The impact you have on the lives you touch will be immeasurable.

God Bless!
